What Play-space Early Childhood Center offers:
Welcome to our Early Childhood learning play space. We offer a child development program that uses not only play based, emergent practices, but is heavily influenced by Reggio Emilia and Waldorf methodology. We meet with each family prior to enrollment to learn more about your child, answer questions, and make sure you feel comfortable with us as your child’s care provider.
What are Reggio Inspired Practices:
- Reggio Emilia philosophy believes in a strong image of child and creating spaces rich in relationships and learning.
- Has a commitment to observing children, documenting what they do, and reflecting on how to best support them in their developmental path.
- Believes infants are able to communicate long before speaking a word, communicate with their eyes, expressions, gestures and have an innate desire to be in a relationship with the world.
- The child’s early learning environment is considered their third teacher.
What are Waldorf inspired Practices:
- Great care is taken to create a soothing, homelike atmosphere.
- Emphasizes imagination and arts of all kinds.
- Holds a great reverence for nature.
- Rich imagination comes from story telling, fairytales, and movement.
- Imaginary Play is the most important “work” of children.
